Olatunde Olateju Olaolorun “O-T” Fagbenle (Yoruba: Ọlátúndé Ọlátẹ́jú Ọláọlọ́run Fágbénlé) is an English actor, writer, and director. He has performed across film, television, and stage productions. Fagbenle is best known for his role as Luke Bankole in The Handmaid’s Tale (2017–2025), which earned him an Emmy Award nomination, and for portraying Barack Obama in the television series The First Lady (2022).
Theatre
O-T Fagbenle began his acting career at 14 with Ritual Theatre Arts, landing the lead role in a modern adaptation of Macbeth, which he performed internationally and at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and graduated early to make his debut at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester, in Les Blancs (2001). He later originated the role of Perry in the Royal Court’s award-winning production Fallout.
