Gugu Gumede is a South African actress from the province of KwaZulu-Natal. She is best known for her portrayal of the prophetess Mamlambo in the popular South African television soapie Uzalo. In 2013, Gumede returned from the United States and secured the role of Mandisa in the successful South African television drama Generations.
In 2015, she was cast as Mamlambo in Uzalo, which became one of the most-watched television shows in South Africa and significantly raised her profile in the entertainment industry. Later in 2018, Gumede served as a presenter at the 11th Crown Gospel Music Awards alongside Somizi Mhlongo, Rebecca Malope, and Clement Maosa, among other celebrities.
Gumede began her television career in 2013 when she portrayed Mandisa in the South African soap opera Generations. From 2015 to 2024, she gained widespread recognition for playing Hlengiwe MaMlambo Mhlongo, popularly known as MaMlambo, in the hit soap opera Uzalo.
